Oral Surgery

Oral Surgery

Oral surgeries are crucial procedures with benefits lasting a lifetime. With modern techniques, oral surgeries have become a calm and comfortable experience. At Wedgewood Dental, we perform oral surgical procedures like tooth extractions, wisdom tooth removal, bone grafting, jaw corrective surgery, dental implants, TMJ treatments, etc.

Common Oral Surgeries

  • Tooth Extractions

Surgical tooth extraction is performed when a simple extraction will not accomplish the task. This involves stimulating the patient's gums to reach and extract the tooth. The standard reasons for tooth extraction include advanced tooth decay, damage, or infections.

  • Wisdom Tooth Extraction

This surgery involves the removal of four permanent teeth located deep inside your mouth. When wisdom teeth do not have enough space for emerging correctly, they can become impacted, causing pain, oral infections, or other dental problems. The wisdom tooth extractions are most often suggested as a preventive therapy even if they do not cause any pain or discomfort. The wisdom teeth are removed through surgical incisions, and the site is sutured to promote healing.

  • Corrective Jaw Surgery

Corrective jaw surgery is related to jaw misalignments that restore normal breathing, chewing, and speaking. It involves the reconstruction and realignment of the jawbone to improve its functionality. Corrective jaw surgery also rectifies the dysfunction and bite problems caused by facial trauma, automobile accidents, or congenital disabilities. This kind of surgery can make patients' jawlines even and functional.

  • Bone Grafting

This surgical procedure is carried out when a patient does not have sufficient jaw bone mass. The jawbone loss can result from either failing to replace a missing tooth or an oral condition that deteriorates the tissues. Bone grafting helps patients undertake modern dental implants that were otherwise not possible earlier.

  • Dental Implants

A dental implant comprises a titanium stud that serves an artificial tooth root. They can replace teeth lost due to tooth decay, mishaps, and gum infections. A dental implant requires minor surgery to place the implant post that grafts with the jawbone over time. The implants are covered with a crown restoration.

  • TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint)

Temporomandibular joint disorders cause discomfort and pain in the joint that links the skull to your jawbone. In extreme situations, we perform TMJ surgery to correct these conditions and provide you relief from pain or injury.
