Veneers

Veneers

Dental veneers are tooth-colored shells that cover the front surface of teeth to improve smile aesthetics. These transparent shells are bonded to the teeth to change their color, size, and shape. At Wedgewood Dental, we offer customized dental veneers to help you overcome your tooth imperfections and attain a flawless smile.

What Conditions Do Dental Veneers Fix?

Dental veneers are the best option to deal with various cosmetic dental issues, including:

  • Discolored teeth
  • Worn-down teeth
  • Gaps between the teeth
  • Broken or chipped teeth
  • Uneven or misaligned teeth

Benefits of Dental Veneers

Dental veneers offer several cosmetic benefits, including:

  • They are stain-resistant.
  • They can be matched to the precise shade of the existing teeth
  • They are durable and look much better than other restorations.
  • They involve very minimal removal of the tooth structure.

Dental Veneer Procedure

Receiving your dental veneers generally requires about two visits to our dental office. Our dentists will recommend the best way to proceed with the treatment depending on your dental condition.

  • Planning

Our dentist will meticulously examine your teeth to make sure the veneers are the suitable choice for you. We may also capture X-rays and impressions of your mouth and teeth if required.

  • Preparation

To add a veneer to the tooth surface, our dentist will numb the area and reshape the tooth enamel to match the thickness of the veneer. Next, we will send out the impressions of your teeth to a dental lab to create your veneer. A few days are required for the veneer to be manufactured. In the meantime, our dentist will provide you with temporary restorations to protect the prepared tooth surface.

  • Placement

Your veneer will be ready during your next visit, and our dentist will place it on your tooth to examine its fit, shape, and color. If necessary your tooth may be further trimmed to achieve proper fit and comfort.

Further, your tooth will be cleaned, polished, and etched to make it ready for the veneer restoration. The veneer is then fixed on your tooth and bonded using dental adhesives. Once appropriately positioned, our dentist will use a curing light to harden the glue quickly.

Finally, we will remove the excess adhesive and check your bite, and further adjustments will be made if required. We recommend a follow-up visit to examine your gums and the veneer's placement in a couple of weeks.
